Review by hotel critic
As a Spanish chef exploring Vigo, I found Hostal Ancla Dorada to be a culinary haven amidst the city's vibrant nightlife. The quaint guesthouse, just 200 meters from the main train station, offered cute, simple rooms with modern, private bathrooms and a seating area for relaxation. The free WiFi and proximity to the Old Town and Castro Park made it an excellent choice for exploring the city's tourist hotspots on foot. The friendly staff at Ancla Dorada went above and beyond to accommodate us, even arranging for late check-in on New Year's Day, showcasing true Spanish hospitality. Despite being nestled in a building with no elevator, the hostal's central location near the airport bus stop and train station made it convenient for travelers seeking authentic local experiences. While the rooms with shared bathroom facilities may not suit everyone, the cleanliness and comfort provided during our stay were commendable. The property's vending machines offering drinks and snacks added a touch of convenience for late-night cravings after indulging in Vigo's culinary delights. One downside was the potential nighttime noise from nearby bars, an unavoidable aspect of staying in such a lively area. However, for around 40EUR per night, we found the value to be reasonable, especially considering the proximity to the city's best restaurants and the Piedra market in the Old Town.Hostal Ancla Dorada catered to our needs as travelers immersed in Vigo's gastronomic scene, offering a cozy retreat with a local touch. Whether exploring the city's culinary offerings or venturing to the nearby beach on buses easily accessible from the hotel, our experience was enriched by the charm and warmth of this centrally located guesthouse.
